Swan update

Black Swan & cygnets, Etiwanda wetlands
White-plumed Honeyeater, Mildura

I must admit that the honeyeaters and bush birds are much harder to photograph than the waterbirds!  Even though these honeyeaters are so common, I still struggle to get a good shot. Even though I like the colours in this, it is a bit of a shame that that closer bottlebrush is there.

The five swan babies have been coming along well, although they would want to watch out they don't get kicked out - mum and dad are already looking at the nest again!

  1. Pretty black swan!!! Being that your honeyeaters are very common, a LOT of birds, I've found, are so very difficult to capture on camera. I think yours is a super image.

  2. Oh Yes! Waterbirds and shorebirds are MUCH easier to photograph - plus I get to go out in my kayak for them!! Great photos!

  3. We don't have the black swans here, at least they are not native ... they are simply gorgeous. And I think your picture of the honey eater is adorable ... and the bottle brush is part of the natural setting which makes it very special. I think you did well ..

  7. Wonderful photographs! I empathize with trying to catch the smaller birds in a good shot. Yours is just splendid!

  8. Gorgeous Swan image and a better result than you give yourself credit for with the Honeyeater image. Cheers

  11. Nice combination picture of the adults and young.

House sparrows are a pest species - but I think they may be here to stay.
